After using the personal edition of User Profile Wizard to migrate a user-profile, all the documents and pictures have disappeared.

I have been able to recover some of the data with Recuva, but at least 2/3 of it are gone. Does User Profile Wizard move the data to a temporary location or does it delete it?

User Profile Wizard does not move, copy or delete any data. Instead it configures the profile “in place” so that it can be used by the user’s new domain account.

If the data has been actually been deleted User Profile Wizard absolutely did not delete it. There is simply no code in User Profile Wizard that can delete profile data.

Are you sure that the profile was migrated? If Windows created a new profile, the data will still be under the old profile folder. The new user account should still be using the the old profile folder C:\Users\Username if the profile was migrated correctly. As you are using the Personal Edition, the profile folder will not have been renamed.

I have double-checked it, and it was the folder redirection policies that failed. Sorry :-)
