Hi,

We have a Terminal Server that we need to join to a new domain. The server is currently joined to a domain. Can the Profwiz tool help retain the existing user profiles?

thanks
Ashleigh

Hi Ashleigh,

Yes it can. The only condition is that the profiles must be stored locally on the server – usually under C:\Users. User Profile Wizard cannot migrate TS profiles that are saved on network shares. (These profiles are defined on the user account object in AD and have paths such as \\Server\Share\username.)

Hi,

The profiles are stored locally. How is the process different from using the Profwiz tool on a standard user? Is there a guide on how to do do this on a Terminal Server?

Thnaks

OK - So I have only done this on a workstation with a single profile. at the end you have to reboot. how do you do this with 10 profiles on a terminal server?

thanks

When migrating multiple profiles, remove the tick in the "Join Domain" checkbox until you migrate the last profile.

It is probably easier to do the migration like this, but it doesn't actually matter: you can just run the Wizard multiple times anyway.

So, did i get it correctly?
1) logon as domain administrator
2) set new DNS srv
3) migrate every terminal user profile without checking "join domain" flag.
4) last migrate administrator profile and tick "join domain".
5) reboot

thanks for the help and thankyou again for the wonderful app!
regards,
Conzi
