First, let me tell you why I am looking into your application and others like it. I do a lot of machine swapping, replacing older machines with new ones and transfering data from one to the other. One of my major problems in doing this is that the people I am doing this for are rarely available to log into their account to create the profile on the new machine. I am looking for an application that will allow me to put their old profile (mydocs/favorites/wallpaper/outlook/etc) onto their new machine, so they could just log in and start working.
If this product is not designed to do this, then you can ignore this message. If it is, I am having some trouble with crashing. Creating the backup is giving me no problems, I am not using a password and nothing is getting encrypted (just an empty test account) My problems start when I try to migrate that profile to a new machine. the app prompts me to find the archive and it does, it then goes to the next screen. I do not want to change the name of the new machine (every machine has a unique name) The domain is put in their automaticly, I took a screenshot: http://www.theknorrs.com/temp/transwiz/first.jpg It then goes through the extraction and finding the domain: http://www.theknorrs.com/temp/transwiz/second.jpg As soon as it binds to the ADS it crashes: http://www.theknorrs.com/temp/transwiz/third.jpg The details are not helpful http://www.theknorrs.com/temp/transwiz/four.jpg If anyone could help me get a successful test, I would appriciate it. Also, if we can get it to work, how much would an academic license cost, if avalible? |

Hi, The Transfer Wizard should certainly be able to do what you want it to. Although the software is still in beta, it obviously shouldn't crash In this case, the problem isn't so much with transferring the profile data, as communicating with the domain. This is not a known problem. Are you prompted for a domain username and password? If so, in what format do you enter the username? The information in the crash report would be very useful. If you can get the report files, please email them to support@ForensiT.com In the transfer .zip file you will see a file called transfer.transfer.xml. If you would like us to take a look, please email this file as well. |
