I have a 32bit Windows 7 PC in German. I need to transfer 6 profiles from my Win7 Workgroup PC I am logged in as an Admin and try to store the profile of a normal user. At the END of the storage process I get - most of the time - not always - the following error messages:
Error packing file: C:\Users\UserName\ntuser.dat.log1 Error packing file: C:\Users\UserName\ntuser.dat.log2 When I open the ZIP file I can see that these 2 files AND NTUSER.DAT from the user profile directory are missging. When opening Regedit before starting Transwiz.exe I can see that (in case it ist not working) the user registry is loaded in HKU short after starting the storage of the profile and it is NOT unloaded again. Even after ending TransWiz.exe (verified in TaskManager) this hive in Regedit canNOT be unloaded. I get a "access denied". Even with unlocker etc. I did not find the process which is holding the file open. And I canNOT rename the NTUSER.DAT. Only a reboot free's ntuser.dat. The next TransWiz.exe process might be - or might not be successful. Without reboot another profile might be - or might NOT be successful. Thanks Klaus |

The two log files are not required and can be ignored.
Transwiz does not store NTUser.dat as NTUser.dat in the archive, so you will not see that file name. It will have been backed up - Transwiz will backup the the user's registry even if it is in use. |

Thanks for the answer. But than the error message would be really missleading. In addition I do see the NTUSER.DAT and .log files in the ZIP when the storage of the profile is performed without any error. And after importing a profile with the stored NTUSER.DAT in ZIP file it appears in the profile directory. When I import the profile withOUT NTUSER.DAT (the one with error messages during storage) I receive an error "Unable to load Profile. Error 2. Das System kann die angegebene Datei nicht finden == System cannot find the named file." in the TransWiz Window during creation of a new user with new profile on Windows 10. But I have other errors during import - see other post. with kind regards, Klaus |
