Wondering if the User Profile Wizard will work in the following scenario. A new client has had a failed DC containing a RAID5 array and ZERO backups of their AD infrastructure. They do have data backups, but nothing in the way of their domain. I've recreated the server using the same domain and have restored shared file backups. I'm now to the point of dealing with client workstations. They are currently logging in with their cached credentials and have access to their workstations. Before removing them from the domain and rejoining, I'd like to use the User Profile Wizard to create a backup of the domain should a new user profile get created. Is that something this app will accomplish and if so, what issues can I expect? All workstations are running Windows 7 or Windows 10 Pro.

User Profile Wizard does not move, copy or delete any data. Instead it configures the existing profile “in place” so that it can be used by the user’s new account. You should use User Profile Wizard to migrate the profiles and join the machines to the new domain. (The software does not need any access to the old domain.) This way, when someone signs-in with their new domain account, they will get their own profile, not a new blank/default profile.
If the new domain name is the same as the old domain name, you should ensure there is a tick (not a block) in the “Join Domain” checkbox. (If you are using the Professional or Corporate Editions, you can set the “Force Join” option.) |

Used the utility yesterday and it worked exactly as I had hoped. I wasn't sure if it copied the data, or merely altered the profile. I believe I've seen it mentioned elsewhere, but the stored passwords (web browser) didn't make it, but in light of what they were facing they're very happy. That makes me happy and helps get me paid.
