Hi,

I'm currently evaluating the Profile Migration Wizard, and initial results are extremely promising. What I'm trying to understand is the limits of the product when it comes to automating things.

In the Deployment Kit, I notice that I can set an option to migrate the current logged on user. I note that I can also provide a csv file for PMW to read to map the local usernames to the domain usernames.

My question is this: is the syntax for the input csv file like COMPUTER\user,DOMAIN\user? Or does it simply rely on username,domain_username?

The reason I ask is that there are multiple computers in our environment who use a common login, i.e. several members of staff login using a single username on multiple computers. If I can't specify the username in the form COMPUTER\username then do you have any suggestions for how this could be done?

Thanks,

Hi,

The format of the lookup .csv file is just username,domain_username. User Profile Wizard assumes "username" belongs to the <OldDomain> specified in the Profwiz.config file, or to the local machine if <OldDomain> is blank.

It is still possible to do what you need to do by modifying the migration script. If you are migrating from Novell, you can use the Novell username. If you are migrating workgroup machines, then you can use COMPUTER\username - with some additional script. Please drop us an email at support@ForensiT.com and we'll be happy to help.
