    Posted: 11 Mar 2010 at 1:27am
Hi support team,

I found this error when successfully runs the ProfWiz to migrate local user account to domain user account, my profile change to TEMP and got this error message.

"Windows cannot load the locally stored profile: Insufficient security
rights or a corrupted local file. Windows has logged you in with a
temporary profile any setting you make will not be saved."

Is there any solutions on this and is there any Fallback plan?

Please Help,

Firstly, the profile is not corrupt. The usual cause of this error is simply that the profile is already in use when you try to log in. If you have just migrated the profile a reboot will fix it.

For a discussion of the issue see the Fixing Temporary Profiles blog post.

Hi Support team,

After i reboot the machine after migrated the profile. the domain account will tied to TEMP profile. how to fix this?

Can I just run the ProfWiz again and try to migrate the domainname\username to pcname\localprofile again?

Is there any backup plan before run the ProfWiz..e.g to backup the favorites, desktop, registry key?

Please Advice,

Thanks,
Hafiy.

Hi Hafiy,

User Profile Wizard does not move, copy or delete any profile data in any way. Because of this it is intrinsically safe: there is no need to backup the profile in advance because the data will always remain in place. What User Profile Wizard does is assign the profile to another account.

The domain account will not be tied to the TEMP profile. Windows keeps track of the profile the account should use and will use it as soon as it is available. You can always run Profwiz again to assign the profile to an account.
