In Windows 2008 R2 it seems the way that the Default User profile can be customized has changed. The official Microsoft way of modifying the Default User profile is written up in http://support.microsoft.com/kb/973289. Then one can turn the Default User Profile into a Mandatory profile for all network users. Changing to Mandatory is pretty straightforward but the method of customizing the Default User is not so straightforward.

Does Profile Wizard offer another way to configure the Default User that is not as complex as the official MS method?

Hi,

To set up a default profile you should take a look at our free DefProf utility available here: http://www.forensit.com/support-downloads.html

Thanks for the quick reply and link. The description of DefProf refers to Windows 7. Does it work with 2008 R2 as well? I understand there are differences between the two products.
