I want to rename a Windows 7 user account. I gave it an undesirable and confusing name for cloning.
Most options are very complicated or involve defeating the grayed out "copy to" option in Windows 7. They all come with caveats. Will the "rename profile" do this pretty flawlessly? And will rename the folders as well? An urgent response would be greatly appreciated. |

There are all sorts of ways of approaching this. You can just rename the account - although the profile folder will not be renamed. You can create a new account and assign the original account profile with User Profile Wizard. (The Professional Edition will rename the profile folder.) You can use User Profile Manager to create a copy of the profile and assign the copy to a new account.
