Would Transwiz be a good choice to change "transfer" a profile from their old, maiden name account, to their new, married name account?
I have a client (using Office 365, so email is handled differently) and her username is:
Jane C. Doe

now she's married, and her login name can easily be changed to
Jane C. Smith
but the folder name stays the maiden name.

I've read pros/cons about changing the C:\Users\Jane C. Doe folder name (and the registry hacks) but since that folder is referenced elsewhere in the registry, it might lead to issues.

I'm thinking of keeping that Jane C. Doe folder there, running Transwiz as if on an "old" computer, then creating the new user account/name Jane C. Smith, and then running Transwiz again for the "new" computer.

Would this work? Am I missing something?

You can certainly use Transwiz in this way and it will do the job for you - at the cost of initially duplicating the profile.

A much more efficient method would be to use the Professional or Corporate Edition of User Profile Wizard to migrate the profile back to the same account with <RenameProfileFolder> set to 'True'. (<RenameProfileFolder> is not an option with the free Personal edition.)

I bought the professional version and have used it on an SBS 2003-2011 domain (3 users) and it worked great.

To do what you're describing, are these the steps to follow?

1. Log in as local admin
2. Create "new" user account
3. Edit profwiz.config <RenameProfileFolder> to "true"
4. Run Profwiz
5. Type "new" account name in first window
6. Select "old" account name in second window
7. Restart

Yes, that's right.
