We have got ForensIT user Migration professional license to be able to automate the Azure AD join using provisioning package and the profile migration task of local accounts to Azure AD so that the users can have all their profile settings intact after signing in with their Azure accounts; however the whole process is proving to be quite vague for us and we are unable to achieve what we want for our client. I would like to detail the entire process as below and would appreciate any response that can help us. End Goal and Expectation: 1. If ForensIT user Migration kit could join the work group machines to Azure AD using Provisioning package. 2. If it can migrate the local profile data and settings to the O365 profile after it joins the win 10 machine to Azure AD. Below are the steps we have taken so far: 1. Downloaded the license and the setup files on the test machine shared by ForensIT support. 2. Ran the deployment kit. 3. Created a provisioning package through WCD. Tested that the package works separately. 4. Added the package to the migration tool by browsing its absolute path. 5. Ran the "SaveAs" script to generate AzureID XML file which will query and obtain the object ID of the Azure account we need to migrate to. 6. Added this file to the deployment kit wizard as well. 7. Specified the Azure domain wherever prompted. 8. Used the lookup file (only one account) to map the local and Azure AD account names. 9. Finished the wizard and ran the migration by launching profwiz.exe app. 10. Got a message that the migration completed successfully. After the machine reboots, we see that it is still not Azure AD joined and there is no Azure account on the login screen. Question: Does the machine needs to be joined with Azure before we do the profile migration using the deployment kit?

Hi,
Does the User Profile Wizard Migration log report 'Calling Provisioning Package... Done'? Windows joins the computer to Azure on the next reboot, so you will not immediately see the Other User option when the computer boots after the migration. The option takes a little while to appear, or you can reboot the computer again (after giving it chance to join Azure). Do you know if the Provisioning Package is working? You can test this independently using the PowerShell cmdlet Install-ProvisioningPackage You can also check for any entries in Event Viewer to indicate what the issue with the Provisioning Package is. No, the computer does not need to be joined to Azure first. Thanks, Support.
