1) Is
there still a program called “User Profile Manager”? 2) If so how do I obtain it? 3) If not what if anything replaced it? 4) If not replaced with another ForensiT product, do you have any recomendations for a similar functioning tool from somewhere else? Thank you.

Regretfully, we had to withdraw User Profile Manager from sale. Unfortunately it was no longer technically and commercially viable for us to continue to develop the software for Windows 10. It has not been replaced.

I'm sure I'm not doing something correctly with DefProf and the command arguments are few so it's hard to get it wrong. Nonetheless my attempt failed.
Perhaps I have the concept wrong. I am under the impression that DefProf will take a pre-existing profile and use it to replace the Windows "DefaultAccount" such that when a new user is setup (Local or Domain) it will adopt the settings of the "DefaultAccount" which in essence would be the same as the original pre-existing profile that was the template. [Configuration] OS: Win10Pro20H2_New install Pre-existing User Account Name: User1 Account Type: Local administrator
[My Steps] ) 1) Enable Windows "DefaultAccount". ) 2) Profwiz.exe Product Version: 22.0.1272.0 ) 3) Run the "Profwiz.msi". ) 4) Profwiz.msi spawns "Profwiz.exe". ) 5) Run "profwiz.exe" as administrator: Profwiz.exe /user1 a. Disable Account: Disabled b. Delete Account: Disabled c. Local Computer Name: MC15 d. Join Workgroup: Enabled e. Account Name: user1 f. Set as default logon: Disabled g. Migration Complete! h. Saved the log. i. Got the 10 second sign out warning.
) 6) Win10 restarts. a. Logon screen shows User1 with password field. b. Has no option to sign in with another account. (Expected since there is no other active user acct)
) 7) Sign in. ) 8) Add new local user account “test1” via CLI. ) 9) Add “test1” to administrators group via CLI. ) 10) Noticed that Windows “DefaultAccount” was disabled. 1) 11) Logoff “user1”. ) 12) Sign on “test1”. a. Get “Updating Apps” through to 100% b. Get the usual “Hi” message when the new profile is forming. 3) 13) Test1 has ZERO personalization’s from User1.
** Logging back into User1 I see that while personalization’ s are intact, I had to reset my default apps.
[Questions] 1) 1) Any advice as to why the profile of newly created accounts don’t inherit the user1 settings? 2) 2) Any idea why I had to reset default apps in “User1”? |
