Topic: Dropbox problems after migrationPosted: 25 Jan 2013 at 10:44am |

I used User Profile Wizard 3.6 to migrate a domain user to a local user on a windows 7 system.
After migration i lost the Dropbox icon overlays and the right-click explorer content menu for it. I tried reinstalling dropbox to no avail. The problem even occurs on users that had nothing to do with the migration. e.g. if i create a new local user after the migration, it will show the problem. I have confirmed this on 3 seperate windows 7 computers. Any help is appreciated. -Tony |

No one has reported this issue before.
User Profile Wizard only affects settings related to the user whose profile is migrated. If you are seeing this with new accounts, the problem is unlikely to be the result of anything User Profile Wizard has done. |

Well, i don't have any other processes going on.
After my last post, i created windows 7, 3 times, from scratch, and went straight to installing dropbox on the initial user, then the profile move to another clean user, reconfiguring dropbox and the problem appears. the profile move is the only trigger i've seen. Is there a change to the default user dir/registry that could cause it to happen to the current and subsequent users? |

So i figured out the only way to get it working again is to turn UAC off.
Not exactly ideal. |

We spent some time at the weekend looking at this. We can reproduce the problem with the Dropbox icon overlays you describe with the migrated profile. We are now working on a fix for this.
We cannot reproduce the problem with other profiles. If we logon with a different account and set up Dropbox it works without any problems every time. |

Hi Tony,
We think we have a solution to this issue. This will be included in a future release of the software - along with other updates - after further testing. If you have an urgent need for this functionality please contact support@ForensiT.com You will still need to choose "Reconnect now" when DropBox starts after the migration; enter your account details, then choose "Use Previous Settings" |
