Hi all,

We have a rather small domain with a handful of users, but would like to migrate some remote users to this domain (read just one or two users). The users connect via a standard Windows VPN client, however, the VPN itself does not use domain credentials. As such, we cannot set the VPN for use by “everyone” and connect to the VPN during the login process, but instead the VPN needs to be established after the user logs in to their account. Of course, this means that during migration and domain join, the remote user needs to reboot and as such they are faced with the prompt “No login server are available”

Is there a way to manually cache this password for the remote user? I see the that the Corporate version may offer this feature, however, this seems a little overkill for just 1 or 2 users.

Cheers

Hi all,

Immediately after post this, I found an answer.

After the migration has completed (via the VPN) and the user has rebooted, get the user to log into a existing account (such as the local admin) and reconnect to the VPN. The get them to 'Shirt+Right Click' and application in the start menu and chose "Run as a different user". Get them to add in thier domain credentials, then log off the surrogate account and log back into their own domain account.

Done!
