I have purchased and started to use the Transwiz Professional edition and encountered some issues when using it.
First it looks like when transferring large profiles it breaks them up into 4GB files. The last time this happened it did not save them in a .zip file but another file type/extension that could not be imported. Is there a practical profile size limit that this should be used for?
Second there were some files, mostly associated with Google Desktop, that could not be packaged when preparing a profile to be copied to a new computer. Are there known file types that should be excluded when creating the backup?
Third is there a way to exclude a user's Outlook profile/information as part of the profile backup? We are migrating some users who originally used in house Exchange and are now using hosted Exchange and we don't want to bring over their Outlook profile info.
Lastly I have the user guide for this. Is there any other documentation to reference?
Please let me know. Thank you, Ed.

Hi Ed, Transwiz uses the standard 32-bit zip file format when creating the transfer file. This means that for large profiles it does create a spanned archive accross a number of files. The files will have extensions like .z01, .z02, etc. However, there will still be one .zip file which holds the index for the files in the other volumes of the archive. We have transferred 200Gb+ profiles without any issues. We are not aware of any file types that need to be excluded. Transwiz migrates the complete profile. It is not possible to exclude specific settings. The User Guide is installed with the software. It is also available on the downloads page here. Thanks.

Since I am moving from Office 2003 to Office 2010 as well as from Windows XP to Windows 7, I found it useful to exclude the .ost. My first test computer converted the .ost correctly. The second had problems until I deleted it. Dan |
