I'm sure it does but looking for assurances/confirmation, and maybe some insight as to how easy and how to accomplish...
We have old computers with multiple Profiles. We have new computers to put in their place. So the AD component will be the same. The new computers are imaged and on the Domain in AD. Just need to get the profiles on there. Prof Wiz can do this I quite sure - right? and then Does there need to be any 'prep' to the old machine? To the profiles that on them? Or - could we pull the Hard Drive of the Old machine - USB connect it to new machine - and utilize profile wizard in some manner to get the new machine with profiles on it so that when users login on a new computer they will link to the profile that was moved/copied from old machine and all will be right in the computing world for them. Pulling the drives siince the New computers replace old ones - so having both running at same time...tricky Hence the HD pull line of thinking

Not to worry, I'm sure another solution will present itself.

Hi, User Profile Wizard is our domain migration tool: it does not move or copy any data. Instead it configures the existing profile “in place” so that it can be used by the user’s new domain, Azure AD, or local, user account. Our tool for transferring a user profile to a new machine is Transwiz. Transwiz works by backing up the user profile to a transfer file that you can then restore on the new computer. Transwiz is a Freeware tool and is available to download from our website. Transwiz does not support Azure accounts.

hmm
So we want/need the user to not have to login to 'create' the profile on the new computer. If we copy the Users folder to the new machine, and that user logs in - we are pretty sure that windows will NOT see their profile (that was copied) and create a new folder with their username. Does ProfWiz help in this scenario in anyway? Or what we are trying/needing to accomplish is solely a Transwiz scenario trying to understand...pis Profwiz really only for something like this: Company ABC takes over Company XYZ so you use ProfWiz on Company XYZ computers to make those user profiles see/work/authenticate to the new Parent Company ABC ActiveDirectory. That after you run ProfWiz on those company XYZ computers, they'll now be Company ABC profiles - kept all their settings just using Company ABC AD

Hi,
If you are moving a profile from one computer to another, you can use Transwiz to accomplish this, User Profile Wizard can not move a profile from one computer to another. You're right, User Profile Wizard is used to migrate a users profile from one account to their new AD / Azure / Local user account, on the same computer. Thanks, Support. |
