Does anyone know if the this tool moves My Documents, the Desktop, and other such items when moving over the user profile?
Thank you. |

Yes it does. It moves all user profile data.

Ok, I tried and it didn't move any of the My Docs or anything off the desktop. Any idea what I might be doing wrong?
Thanks. |

We have two products that do two different things. The Transfer Wizard - Transwiz.exe - creates a transfer file so that you can move a profile to another machine. User Profile Wizard - Profwiz.exe - allows you to use an existing profile with a different account.
What is it you need to do?

I want to transfer a users file from machine to another. But I'd like to get all their documents, pictures, favorites, etc... to go along with it. When I first tired this out, I was able to get the user profile and any PSTs for Outlook to transfer over, but any documents, pictures, etc... didn't go with it.
Thanks. |

That shouldn't of happened
One thing to check: make sure that the "My Documents" folder has not been made "private" using Simple File Sharing: there could have been a security issue stoping the files being accessed.

Ok, I redid the profile move and in the zip file, is My Documents.mydocs*. I unzip that folder and nothing is in there. What next?

If you are consistently getting an error it probably means there is a file in "My Documents" that is causing the problem. Edited by Support - 15 Oct 2008 at 6:59am |
