Hi all,

We have a strange problem.
I try to migrate profiles from domain to domain. I start User Profile Wizard and go through GUI. By "Select Computer" I give Computer Name and receive logon window.

For migration we define local user only (we don't have access to the old domain, but I think it don't care) with admin rights.

In logon window I set local user name like "COMPUTER\ADMINUSER" and password too.

If I do it for XP/Server2008 Computer - it works.
If I do it for Win7/8 computer - UPW try to make connect with computer and after 2-4 sec. show me logon window again - without error message, without anything else. Next try bring me the same thing.

(by the way: I can ping computer, local user exist, not disabled and works properly, UAC is disabled, Firewall is disabled).

I need help. Thanks!

regards, Pavel

Hi Pavel,

Windows 7 (and later) prevents local accounts from accessing administrative shares through the network. To enable administrative shares you have to make a registry change on the target machine. Run Regedit and add the following registry value:

Hive: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
Key: Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System
Name: LocalAccountTokenFilterPolicy
Data Type: REG_DWORD (32-bit)
Value: 1

It works by Windows 8, but not by Windows 7.
