Hi,

I have tried using Profwiz to migrate local user accounts over to M365 ones. My first two attempts were successful with no hiccups. Since then, however, the tool just creates a new local account with the workstation name appended to the username (e.g. JaneDoe.DESKTOP827VU).

I noticed on the successful migrations, the tool had the Domain name populated on the drop-down menu; on the attempts that were unsuccessful, the Domain drop-down was empty and I had to populate the field manually.

I'm not sure if this was relevant to the outcome, but any help would be appreciated.

Hi,

The Wizard doesn't create a new profile, there is one profile that is migrated from the old account to the new account. The Wizard doesn't create new user accounts.

Windows will create a new / blank profile if the profile was not migrated to the account that you logged on with.

If there is an existing profile folder of the same name, Windows will append the computer name or domain name in order to distinguish from the existing.

If a new profile named <User>.<Computer> is being created by Windows when you log on, it sounds as if you are logging on with a local computer account rather than the new Entra / Azure account? Has the computer joined Azure / Entra correctly?

If you are having a problem, please can you share the migration log, config file and any further information with us at support@ and we will be happy to advise.

Many thanks,

Support.
