I am attempting to migrate a profile from a Windows XP machine to a Windows 7 machine. Our "AD" server is actually a Samba server (LDAP). From what I understand, 1722 means "No RPC server was able to be found..."

It unpacks fine, processes lists fine...
It then locates ----- domain, asks me to log in, I do-- and that's when I get the 1722 error.

If I don't join a domain, it transfers the profile just fine... but I need the account to be linked to the domain account. :(

Any ideas/suggestions? Thanks!

On a Windows AD domain this problem is generally the result of a DNS configuration problem. Please see "Finding Domian Controller Fails/"The RPC server is unavailable" in the Troubleshooting section of the User Profile Wizard (not Transwiz) User Guide http://www.forensit.com/Downloads/User%20Profile%20Wizard%203.5%20User%20Guide.pdf - here .

Samba domains are more complicated. For some backgroup see this post: http://onemansjourneyintolinux.blogspot.com/2008/06/joining-samba-domain.html - Joining a Samba Domain

Can you join the machine to the domain ("manually") first and then run Transwiz to transfer the profile? Does that make any difference?

Sorry for responding so late, I'm going to retry it after running the fix again for the W7 to join it to Samba domain and see if that will make a difference, I'll post an update later this afternoon! :) *fingers crossed*

Urgh! So I manually joined the machine to the domain beforehand and then ran Transwiz and it still gives me the same error. :(

While it's not the same environment (ours is a Windows Server 2003) I got that same error a few times when I had to provide an account log-in information that is able to make changes (admin) and entered an incorrect password.
