Hi,

On a windows 10 devices, i have an issue when i launch profwiz. It fails with an error :

The directory name is Invalid (translate from french)

Some other devices with the same .config file work like a charm.

My guess is that in the first name of this local accout is with a "é" (french caracter).
or maybe it is something else.

Any help apreciate.

Stef

Hi Stef,

It won't have anything to to with French characters. User Profile Wizard is used all over world, including countries like Korea and Japan.

You don't say which version of User Profile Wizard you are using, or whether you are automating the migration. A common problem when automating the migration is start Profwiz.exe from a network share, but use alternative <LocalAdmin> credentials. The <LocalAdmin> account does not have access to the share, and the migration fails. Similarly, mapped drives will not be mapped for an alternative user.

The Single Deployment File was created to avoid this problem.

I use profwiz from the local hard drive in %tmp%
the config file contains the admin credentials.

On this particular device i have found some issues with a ghost local account, so i launch the tools with the wizard and i was able to migate the device into AD.
